As I write this last blog I am sad that school is over. I have said it a hundred times that this is a wonderful class both the children and their parents. I am so glad I had the opportunity to have met all of you and been able to teach your children this year. Thank you for entrusting your child to me this year and all your generous donations you have sent in all year. Also, a special thank you to the class moms (Leo, Rocco, Ryan and Rosemary's mom) this year for all your help with projects, coordinating holiday goodies etc. We could not have done things without your help. Thank you to Logan's mom for putting together the wonderful May crowning phots and the tribute to Mrs. Meier and myself. Seeing all those photos from Day 1 made us smile. We had a busy year!!! As Dr. Seuss once said I have to think: Don't cry because it's over smile because it happened:)
What a GREAT week! Monday we had our Pre-k Brunch on the playground. Thank you to Rocco's family for bringing the delicious donuts. We had muffins as well. The children played and we ate. What a fun time! We also had our outdoor May Crowning. It was simply beautiful! The children have learned so much about Mary and have such a devotion to her. Dr. Locquiao came into our classroom on Tuesday to pray the Rosary with us. He then asked them many questions about Mary and he was very happy to find out how much the children knew about her. They told him about all the different titles she has which included Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Star of the Sea. They told him she was the Queen of heaven and earth. I know they will always remember her. Dr. Locquiao was also very impressed the children prayed a decade of the Rosary daily until the last day of school. Tuesday we had Sports Day. We wore sports clothes. We played soccer outside, learned how to hold a baseball bat and hit the ball (Joey hit one on the church roof!) and threw the football around. We also dotted sports balls with Q-tips and paint along with reading sports stories. Wednesday we had beach day. We had so much fun pretending to fish on the playground, playing with the shells, summer toys and diving octopuses on the playground in our water bins. We read stories, went on a virtual tour of the beach, got our faces painted, played with our parachute and made two crafts for the beach. One was a colorful beach ball and then we painted a beach scene and added fish, sun etc. We ended the day by playing beach volleyball in the classroom by tossing two beach balls around the room. Thursday was super hero day. We made super hero capes along with super hero ID's which were laminated for a keepsake. We colored with washable markers and made super hero shields and read stories. Pictures of Super Hero day are on the blog under super hero day. We also made a super power snack with two cereals, gold fish, crackers, popcorn, cookies etc. It was delicious!
Have a safe and happy summer! God Bless! Mrs. McNulty and Mrs. Meier
